Zarate's got the 'ump
|
Mauro Zarate’s agent has confirmed his client may seek a move away from West Ham in the winter transfer window.
West Ham star lifts lid on unhappy Liverpool spell and reveals when he knew it was time to leave West Ham man to benefit from Tottenham stars’ ‘surprise’ England rejection The Argentinian forward signed a three-year contract with the Hammers this summer, but has since made just four Barclays Premier League appearances with the east London outfit and scored one goal.
“At West Ham he plays behind the strikers and that is not his position,” Zarate’s agent Luis Ruzzi said to the Italian media.
“He is a centre-forward and if there is a team out there willing to let him play in his natural role, then we will be very happy to consider it.
“Mauro is often used out of position by the current coach (Sam Allardyce) and this is pushing him to seriously consider changing his club.
“It’s true he has a contract until 2017 with the Hammers but I think we can find a solution to suit everyone.
“At this time you could get Zarate for a much lower price than he is really worth.
“Anyone who decides to go for him will certainly be getting a bargain.”
Zarate, who was the top scorer in Argentinian Primera Division with 13 goals in 19 games for Velez Sarsfield last season, has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A side Torino.
The former Lazio and Inter Milan player spent a total of five seasons in Italy before returning to Argentina to play for first club Velez in the 2013-14 campaign.
“It’s true, there has been contact with Torino, but also with other Italian club,” Ruzzi said. “Can Zarate return to Serie A? We shall see, we shall see.
“The market is about to reopen and there are teams looking for strikers.
“Mauro is 27, so he’s matured and ready for the big step up.
“After all, we know his quality.
“It’s a shame that, apart from his time at Velez, in recent years they make him play out of position.
“He is a striker, a hitman.”

Has anyone mentioned it's all wrong playing Nolan ahead of him?
Poor lad - I wish him nerves of iron.

He says he hasn't got the 'ump apparently
He's been a bit unfortunate not to get into the team, either through injury or kept out by our dynamic duo & Downings new found form at the top of the diamond
No doubt he'll get a run sooner or later. He must have something about him to be top scorer in the Argentinian league

Perhaps the main reason we've not seen much of Zarate, is because he's been injured since the Burnley game?

The strikers have had a great start, especially Sakho, but I can't be the only one wondering if that form is going to last forever?
Sakho was, as far as I know, completely unheralded before this season. He might be the new Michael Ricketts.

Would you like to see him play more at the expense of the current first choice XI?
Not sure I would.
Who would you replace with him? Downing?

I would like to see Zarate play more, he seems a quality player to me. I'd be pretty surprised if he was as happy as his tweets seem to indicate.

The Express is losing it's grip, that's 2 non-starting exclusives they've come up with today about us and neither story anywhere near the truth.
They must be bored if they reckon we're paying Song 140 grand a week on top of a supposed 3m fee.
The Star/Mirror have put better out since the Summer

Mauro Zarate has pledged his support to West Ham and Sam Allardyce!
The Argentinian’s agent , Luis Ruzzi told the Italian media: “At West Ham he plays behind the strikers and that is not his position,
“He is a centre-forward and if there is a team out there willing to let him play in his natural role, then we will be very happy to consider it.
“Mauro is often used out of position by the current coach (Sam Allardyce) and this is pushing him to seriously consider changing his club.”
However, Zarate tweeting to nearly 20 million followers declared a few minutes ago on Twitter: “According to recent news articles i would like to inform that I have no agent and I never said that I wanted to leave West Ham.
“West Ham will keep progressing. The manager is doing a great job and has my full support!
And he followed that up seconds later with an emphatic: “Come on you Irons!!!”

Thanks for that.
So he is happy, going nowhere, and rates our manager.
Not much we can do with that.
